Ottawa, Ontario October 04, 2010 - Calian Technologies Ltd. (TSX:CTY) is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Ford to the senior executive ranks of the Business and Technology Services Division (BTS). Kevin will join the division in October and is expected to formally assume the responsibilities of General Manager for the Division early in the new year. Tom Coates, the current General Manager, has been with Calian for over 20 years, the last 12 in the position of GM of the BTS division.

Kevin's background is very complementary to the business of BTS and he brings with him over 28 years of experience in the domain of Information Technology and Information Management. He possesses an extensive understanding of the Federal public sector and has related expertise in business development, client management and project management. Most recently, Kevin was a public sector Partner with IBM Global Business Services located in Ottawa. In his role as an executive within IBM, he was responsible for delivery and business development for a portfolio of clients including National Defence, Defence Industries, Immigration and Coast Guard.

"With Tom's recent announcement of his intention to retire in March 2011, we were pleased to acquire someone with Kevin's background and skills to ultimately fill the role of GM. We are in an ideal position to make this change as we have built a solid base of profitable business under Tom's leadership and we now have the luxury of a substantial overlap for Kevin to acquire an operating knowledge of the division and its customers, thereby effecting a smooth transition of responsibilities" stated Ray Basler, President and CEO.

"Since assuming the GM role in 1998, Tom has been instrumental in growing the division's revenues and profitability while at the same time fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high ethical standards. We will ultimately miss Tom's contribution next spring, but I have every confidence that Kevin will use the strengths and culture created during Tom's tenure to continue growing the division to the benefit of Calian and its shareholders" continued Basler.
