Healthcare programs for first responders

At Calian, we understand that service takes its toll—physically, mentally and emotionally. That’s why we’ve built programs designed for the realities of first responder work: long shifts, unpredictable calls and exposure to high-risk environments.

With over 20 years supporting public safety organizations across Canada, we deliver flexible, confidential, culturally-informed and standards-aligned healthcare that helps first responders stay fit for duty—and for life.

Occupational health screening services

First responders face constant exposure to toxins, trauma, and fatigue. Our programs detect issues early, build resilience, and support long-term readiness. We deliver:

  • Comprehensive annual physical examination
  • Evidence-based cancer surveillance
  • Cardiovascular risk assessment
  • Onsite labs, ECG, spirometry
  • Local referral coordination

All within a single, integrated annual visit.

Firefighters face unique occupational risks

Firefighters face a distinct set of occupational risks. They are exposed to extreme heat, toxic smoke and carcinogenic substances released during fires. Repeated exposure to traumatic events also elevates the risk of psychological injuries. Early detection is critical to identifying disease before symptoms develop

Screening

We provide vision and hearing screenings for police, fire and EMS personnel. Conducted pre-employment and periodically during employment to support readiness, safety and long-term health.
