Hydro Ottawa

Training and development reimagined

Owned by the City of Ottawa, Hydro Ottawa delivers electricity to more than 3.3 million homes and businesses in Ottawa and Casselman.

Calian worked with Hydro Ottawa to develop a virtual reality (VR) trainer for technicians to connect houses to the power grid. Using the VR trainer, the user hooks up a new residential house from the meter to the transform, using a meggering sequence. Using our proprietary TelemetryCore software, instructors track the progress of the trainees to assess their readiness for in-field tasks. This scenario is one of many training scenarios that can be selected using the learning management system (LMS), dashboard and individual user management system.
