Calian delivers live simulation support for military training exercises. Using real people and immersive and environmentally friendly special effects, we create a simulated environment with civilians, security forces, key leaders, and the sounds, smells and visuals of the operating environment.

Maximum realism

Calian has decades of experience delivering live simulation support to recreate urban environments in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Our simulations represent the operating environments for military, police, fire and rescue, and other organizations, so they can get as close to the real thing as possible in a training environment.

Our simulation and training support includes experienced role players from a range of backgrounds and ethnicities, cultural sensitivity training, casualty simulation, special effects and uniforms, props and set dressing.

Role players

Calian provides role players for more than 60 specific roles to provide the flexibility to deliver realistic exercises across a range of scenarios. We deliver role players to represent the local population, military and police, enemy forces, civil society and other roles. The integration role of role players is firmly linked to the EDE process to maximize their effect.

Live role players deliver a highly realistic, dynamic and immersive experience for your team. With simulated human interaction, we test mental agility and decision-making in complex environments, including disaster response, negotiations with key leaders, conflict resolution and more. Cultural sensitivity training

Calian provides in-depth cultural awareness training, enabling trainees to understand cultural nuances, reduce cross-cultural misunderstanding and achieve effective outcomes. Cultural advice and briefings are tailored to meet the needs of personnel deploying overseas and interacting with diverse communities at home. Advice and briefings can be augmented by role-play scenarios for specific business and industrial needs.

We validate cultural understanding and language training using practical scenarios to test comprehension and ensure your team can practically apply the lessons in a training environment.

Casualty simulation

Police, fire and rescue, medical and military personnel all face the probability of treating badly injured people. Our highly skilled professionals use the latest techniques and products, special effects, and makeup to provide accurate representations of traumatic injuries such as gunshots, amputations, fragmentation wounds, impact wounds, and chemical or industrial burns.

In this highly realistic environment, your team rehearses delivering first aid and applying life-saving care through tourniquets, bandaging and preparing a casualty for transport. This provides a challenging first aid, tactical care and survival training experience for your team.

Technical support and special effects

Calian provides realistic, safe and environmentally effects that can be deployed quickly and flexibly. These include audio representation of indirect and direct fire weapon effects, visual and audio representation of vehicle mounted and crew-served weapons as well as obscuration (smoke) and smells. A range of vehicles are also available to add realism and authenticity to training scenarios.

These effects provide a 360-degree and five-senses immersive, close-up experience to simulate complexity, shock, disorientation and confusion. This experience is created with professionally-qualified supervisors, focusing on safety at all times.

Uniforms, props and set dressing

We dress and equip our role players for maximum realism for your training exercise. Uniforms, costumes and props, coupled with the deployment of role players, creates the authenticity and atmospherics for realistic and challenging training. We re-create the street scene, marketplace, hospital or essential infrastructure.

We deliver realism for human terrain in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia and can dress and equip up to 500 role players representing indigenous populations, security forces (police and military), opposing factions, civil society, IO and NGO representatives. With special effects, we also re-create the sights, sounds and smells of the environment in which trainees will operate.

Our live simulation support is as close to the real thing as possible in a training environment.
