How is Mabway a prime supplier for defence training?

Mabway is a market leader in the management of large-scale defence role-playing environments that simulate real-world operational environments and provides technical engineering education for naval and maritime communities. The company has been a prime supplier to the U.K. MOD and British Army since 2012. Mabway has several offices across the U.K., a workforce of more than 1,000 ex-military and civilian permanent staff and contractors, and services reaching into Europe and the Middle East.

How does Mabway complement Calian’s military training solutions?

The recent acquisition of Mabway expands Calian’s presence in the U.K. and Europe, bolstering the company’s military training and simulation solutions portfolio in the region and presenting more opportunities for diversification. Mabway’s strong position in the U.K. defence sector provides opportunities for Calian to offer immersive learning solutions to complement the blended learning solutions Mabway is delivering. Mabway has a strong service offering that both complements and expands Calian’s solutions in the military training and simulation sector.

The acquisition presents a great opportunity to leverage the capabilities of both companies to provide a more comprehensive range of solutions to military and defence customers globally. And with the U.K. looking to increase defence spending to 2.5 per cent of GDP by 2030, Calian is well positioned as a strategic partner to support operational readiness. Mabway is well known for its unrelenting focus on providing mission-critical solutions for customers and will be able to deliver even more effectively as part of the Calian team.

What type of specialist engineering consultancy and training support services does Mabway provide?

Mabway offers a wide range of maritime consultancy services depending on the training needs of our customer. We design and deliver crew familiarization training for new equipment and systems fitted during vessel updating. We carry out detailed training gap analysis to assess the implications for operation and maintenance of newly procured equipment. We are experienced in building out training requirements and offering tailored training solutions against vessel or systems and equipment requirement.

We can design, define, and exercise new standard operating procedures for newly procured marine systems and equipment. This ensures that existing crews’ knowledge and skill level is sufficient to operate and maintain newly installed systems and equipment safely and effectively. As an established supply chain partner, we have provided training support and SME support to blended learning training package creation. Our consultancy service is varied; however, learning and development is at the heart of what we offer.

What engineering training support solutions does Mabway offer?

We often work with customers and ships where equipment has been regularly updated or where additional equipment has been fitted. It is often the case that the OEM documentation does not provide sufficient detail regarding preventive and corrective maintenance procedures, fault location, or removal and replacement routines.

These issues often require a training uplift to skill staff or adjustments to existing training programs for effective ship operation and maintenance support. Mabway proactively works to undertake operational research and training gap analysis to identify these training needs and requirements. Mabway staff is highly experienced in the delivery of academic and practical courses, supported by blended learning solutions, to deliver optimized training outcomes. We deliver training as an EAL recognized training provider but are also adept at working with OEMs and industry partners to skill staff appropriately.

The Mabway maritime team comprises engineers dedicated to carrying out a complete maintenance evaluation of ship equipment. All OEM documentation, including preventive and corrective maintenance procedures are assessed to ensure accuracy, ergonomic achievability and completeness. We work to create a bespoke report detailing all maintenance procedures, hazards and safety considerations, setting to work, special tools, spares support and removal or replacement procedures.

How can Mabway support clients with task book training?

In addition to Mabway’s engineering training program design and delivery services, we offer support to customers and staff through oversight of on-job training and staff mentorship. In our experience, task book training can be an effective tool to mitigate skill fade in between more systematic periods of academic, practical training and assessment.

Mabway provides onsite training coordination and remote follow-up training sessions with staff, as well as mentorship services for those who have completed rigorous training programs. Our support is designed to enable your staff to fully develop their learned engineering skills in a practical setting, with the benefit of added feedback and task assessment.

Our maritime project team is highly experienced in upskilling maritime staff and enabling the competent application of learned topics in the workplace across engineering disciplines in a maritime and naval setting. We offer blended learning solutions to balance instructor-led tuition and oversight with computer-based training. Task book training delivers our customers value for money on initial training spend by giving staff the confidence and competency to succeed and flourish after academic qualification.

Is the demand increasing for maritime engineering training?
