Interactive VR Experience

Discovery Place is a private, not-for-profit organization whose work inspires the exploration of science and the natural world using exhibits and educational programs to inform, challenge and engage audiences. Discovery Place is a leader in STEM education, with a network of four hands-on museums in three different cities in the Carolinas.

They say it’s not what’s on the outside, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

The Calian team developed a custom educational virtual reality (VR) experience for the Discovery Place museum. The experience educates museum attendees on key elements of the human body like the cardiovascular system, the digestive tract and respiratory system. The VR experience shrinks the user down to explore the human body. On their travels, the user learns how the human body functions through amazing visuals and audio interaction.

The installation is equipped with four of our rumbling platforms, adding a multi-sensory effect to the experience making it even more immersive. The rumbling platform allows the user to feel the engine of the ship and the bodily functions of the human host you are traveling through. Discovery Place has built the exhibit within a train alongside an animatronic companion bot, Zoey.
