Forensic psychology training

Calian partnered with St. Joseph's Hospital and McMaster University to develop a virtual reality (VR) trainer for clinicians working in a forensic psychology setting.

Forensic psychology training in VR

We developed a VR experience to train medical staff in a forensic psychology setting, where there is a risk of violence and critical incidents. The VR trainer familiarizes clinicians with procedural tasks from the field of work. Calian worked directly with St. Joseph’s Hospital and McMaster University to develop scenarios for  nurses, doctors and other medical professionals to prepare them for in-field complex and possibly dangerous situations.

Exercising decision-making in a VR setting

Using VR, we immerse the trainee in a virtual environment that simulates a clinical environment. The scenarios we developed are based on real-life scenarios that have happened in the past, presenting medical professionals with their own pathway to resolution, exercising decision-making and judgement in a given situation.
