Donation to UNICEF Pakistan Floods Appeal will address immediate needs and build resilience for the future.

Pakistan is still dealing with the effects of devastating floods from torrential rains that submerged one-third of the country in July and August. Nearly 1,500 people have died and another 33 million were displaced. Hundreds of thousands are still sleeping out in the open.

More than 750,000 livestock were killed and 3.6 million acres of crops were destroyed. So far, the damage is estimated at $30 billion, but economists predict that the full extent of the loss suffered Is likely to become much higher. In the provinces of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan, more than a million homes were lost and the destruction of roads and railways made it difficult for people to leave the most impacted areas.

With 35 Calian contract employees and their families living in Pakistan, this humanitarian crisis hits close to home. Calian is committed to helping Pakistan through our ESG program Calian CARES™ and is donating $10,000 to the UNICEF Pakistan Floods Appeal to provide emergency relief to people in the hardest hit regions of Pakistan and contribute to building resilience to prevent future crises.

In addition, Calian will match employee donations up to $10,000, for a potential total donation of $30,000. We encourage our employees and our partners to donate what they can to help alleviate the suffering in Pakistan.

“Our hearts are with the people of Pakistan affected by this terrible crisis and our ITCS contract employees and their families who live there,” says Sacha Gera, President ITCS, Calian. “We are committed to doing what we can to help alleviate the suffering in Pakistan and we hope this donation through Calian CARES™ will make a difference in the lives of those affected."
