3rd Annual AFN National Water Symposium
"The government of Canada has committed to ending all long-term drinking water advisories on public systems on reserve by March 2021… but what will happen after that? This year, AFN National Water Symposium and Tradeshow will be oriented towards answering that question.
Access to water and sanitation is a human right that first Nations do not enjoy equitably with Canadians. Issues remain including First Nations rights and title to water and water bodies, the challenges of climate change and the continued assertions of jurisdiction by provincial and territorial governments. Finally, the previous government’s problematic Safe Drinking Water for First Nations Act remains a valid law and must be repealed and replaced.
The 3rd Annual AFN National Water Symposium and Tradeshow will focus on the post-2021 water and wastewater future for First Nations. The tradeshow is an excellent opportunity to showcase your water and infrastructure-related products and interact with First Nations leadership, water technicians, Public Works department staff, other First Nations infrastructure technicians, consultants, Government officials and non-government entities and leading members of academia with an interest in First Nations water and wastewater issues."
Calian's Emergency Management team will be in attendance. Connect with them before the event to schedule a meeting.
