Training and Simulation Keep Militaries Prepared for Conflict

Calian to sponsor and showcase end-to-end military training solutions at the Joint Military Training and Simulation conference

In times of crisis, the need for advanced training and preparedness becomes indisputable. Nowhere is this more evident than in cases of military conflict. High-tech, modern simulation and training gives militaries an advantage in times of war. Soldiers get the chance to experience conflict scenarios in a simulated setting and learn how to respond in a systematic, strategic way. Sophisticated training solutions are invaluable for any modern military.

Calian has been supporting Canadian and global militaries through a suite of diverse solutions, including training, for more than 25 years. As the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) training partner for simulation-based training since 1996, Calian delivers individual and collective training developed by defence and training experts.

As part of the CAF Operation UNIFIER, Calian has been instrumental in supporting Canada’s ongoing commitment to Ukraine. Through this initiative, Calian has been collaborating with the CAF to deliver training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2015. Working with the Canadian Army Simulation Centre (CASC), Calian developed and delivered training and courses for enterprise-level defence management to support the strategic transformation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Joint Military Training and Simulation

On July 20th and 21st, Calian will participate in the Joint Military Training and Simulation (JMTS) Conference in Bristol, UK, as a Silver Sponsor and exhibitor. The conference will include simulation, education and training, including procurement programs, standards, training and technological development. Visitors to the Calian booth will learn about the seamless integration of tools and simulation systems to achieve real-world joint, distributed training and high readiness objectives with live interconnectivity with NATO C2 Systems, MaestroEDE, VCCI, Abacus, VBS and Sitaware HQ.

As part of the conference’s authoritative speaker panel, CDR (Ret’d) Jay Ballard, CASC Contract Manager with Calian Group Ltd, will present a session entitled “Training for Modern War.” Ballard will examine trends from recent conflicts, incorporating some of the biggest takeaways from the war in Ukraine and the Nagorno-Karabakh war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He will address the effects of disinformation and cyberattacks on military operations, the challenges presented by urban warfare, and lessons learned about what it all means for contemporary military training.

Simulated Solutions for Real-World Applications
