Meet Amy Robillard, Talent Acquisition Team Lead, Calian Health.

Tell us about your background.

I grew up in the Ottawa Valley and was raised on a hobby farm. I graduated from Algonquin College with a degree in Business Administration and a major in Human Resources. Calian was my first jump into the corporate world as a new grad.

Tell us about your journey at Calian and where you are today.

I met Tonya Martin at a HRPA dinner party and passed her my business card. That was the beginning of the next 13 years I’d spend at Calian.

My first role was with the HR team and I was hopeful that this would lead to an HR Assistant role. It did! I worked for 2.5 years as an HR Assistant, which at the time included being a security officer. I had always been interested in recruiting and when there was an opportunity to move onto the recruiting team, I didn’t hesitate to apply.

I was hired as a Recruiter on the Health Services team and quickly found success. Over the next year, I gained experience with many healthcare professionals before jumping into recruiting mental health professionals nationwide.

In the years following and today, I’m still recruiting mental health professionals and have an expansive network that I can tap into. I’ve had the opportunity to represent Calian Health at international, national, and provincial conferences and conventions. I’ve travelled across Canada to client sites, including in remote, northern communities. Through the years, I’ve been recognized as our subject matter expert in mental health.

Within the last year, I was promoted to a Talent Acquisition Team Lead role in health services.

What do you like most about working for Calian?

I most enjoy the teamwork and collaboration that happens at all levels of the company. The career growth opportunities are amazing, as you can see from my history at Calian.

Do you have a favorite story from your time at Calian?

The day Kevin Ford came back to Calian after a cardiovascular event... everyone lined up down the main entrance for his arrival. There were high fives, cheers, noise makers—what a moment to remember. A testament to the team and the fabric of Calian. Caring for each other, cheering each other on. One team.

What keeps you busy outside work?

I live on a hobby farm with horses. I’ve been riding since I was 10. Whether I’m cutting firewood, gardening, riding, making maple syrup in the spring, walking the bush trails, there’s no lack of fun things to do outdoors here.
