Ottawa, Ontario Nov 21, 2013 - Calian Technologies Ltd. (TSX:CTY) is pleased to announce that in conjunction with BAE Systems, they are poised to deliver world-class Close Combat Vehicle (CCV) should their pan-Canadian team be awarded this strategic Canadian defence industry contract.

Increased threats facing Canadian troops in the field have led to an increased focus on protection. The CCV can play a significant role in supporting this objective as it offers both passive and active protection while enabling the troops to respond effectively to a broad spectrum of operations.

As one of three final bids, thought to be in final review by the Government of Canada, the Saskatoon-based division of Calian is excited about the opportunities and jobs that this contract would bring to our local economy.

We are very pleased to be a part of BAE System’s proposal for the Close Combat Vehicles,” said Patrick Thera, President - SED Division. “We look forward to the manufacture of key electrical components of their vehicle solution. We have a long history of providing manufacturing services utilizing this type of technology and this opportunity enables us to create high value, sustainable jobs for the Saskatchewan economy."

"Calian recognizes the importance that the Government of Canada places on protecting its soldiers and we are excited to be part of the proposed delivery of this strategic military vehicle in support of this objective." said Ray Basler, Calian's President and Chief Executive Officer. “SED’s portion of the work on the CCV program would be performed at the company’s Saskatoon manufacturing facility and would entail the purchase of several million dollars of materials and services from a vast array of Canadian suppliers.”
