Calian Wins a New Contract Valued at Approximately $65 Million
Ottawa, ON January 05, 2010 - Calian Technologies Ltd. (TSX:CTY) is pleased to report that its Business and Technology Services division has been awarded a contract by the Department of National Defence to provide instructional, training support, and administrative services on an as-and-when requested basis at four locations in Canada: St.Jean/Farnham QC, Quebec City QC, Borden ON, and Halifax NS. The initial twenty-nine month contract period which commences immediately and extends to May 31, 2012 is valued at $29 million. The contract also calls for three one-year option periods which could extend the contract period to May 31, 2015 and bring the overall value of the contract to approximately $65 million. Over the next few months, the division will collaborate with the customer to determine specific requirements and establish a suitable ramp-up profile. As this contract is on an as-and-when required basis, there is no assurance that the full contract value will be realized.
This Contract will allow Calian to expand the training services it currently provides to DND through the supply of services to support Basic Military Qualification (BMQ) and Primary Leadership Qualification (PLQ) training in three streams: Administrative Support, Training Support; and Instructional Support. Individuals will fill a wide range of positions, including Role Players, Military Occupation Instructors, Training Support Supervisors and Exam/Test Invigilators.
