Ottawa, Ontario, June 9, 2015– Calian Technologies Ltd. (TSX: CTY) Training service line is participating in this week's World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) tradeshow in Toronto on June 9th and 10th. The company's participation in this strategic event is part of the efforts to diversify the company's customer base.

Calian is well positioned to attract increased business in this area on the heels of having been awarded a $1 million contract from Bruce Power to design, develop and support their Emergency Response Preparedness Corporate Exercises for 2015 and 2016. This builds on the very successful multi-year relationship that has grown between the two companies.

Along with partners C4I Consultants, who will provide constructive simulation support through their Emergency and Disaster Management (EDMSIM) tool, and Bubble Technology Industries, who will provide nuclear subject-matter expertise, Calian will assist Bruce Power as it develops and implements a demanding and sophisticated two-year training, education and exercise cycle.

"Together, Bruce Power and Calian have a history of jointly delivering nuclear security training, education and exercises that are, arguably, unrivaled in Canada." said Doug Claggett, DM Emergency Preparedness, Bruce Power.

"Calian is pleased to have once again been selected as Bruce Power's training partner. In that role Calian will perform the analysis, design, development, coordination and delivery of a range of high-quality training events. In doing so, Calian will once again assist Bruce Power to maintain and enhance its robust and multi-faceted emergency response program" said Jerry Johnston, VP Training and Engineering Services, Calian.

This contract is the latest in a series beginning in 2012, when Calian had the privilege of assisting Bruce Power in executing the world class HURON CHALLENGE exercise series, in the wake of the Fukashima disaster. Since this critical “beyond design basis” training event, Calian has continued to support Bruce Power in conducting a wide range of training, education and exercise activities. Calian possesses unique experience in the design, development and delivery of a range of training solutions – from comparatively simple one-day seminars to the most complex and demanding multi-jurisdiction, multi-disciplinary exercises.

"The second pillar of Calian's growth strategy is customer diversification. Our participation in this event and this strategic contract win demonstrates that Calian's emergency preparedness training services are equally suitable to the requirements of strategic private sector customers such as Bruce Power" said Kevin Ford, President and CEO, Calian.
