Ottawa, Ontario, October 2, 2014 –Calian Technologies Ltd. (TSX: CTY) is pleased to announce the following additions to its Health Services team.

Scott Murray has joined Calian’s BTS division as Vice President for Health Services. In this position, Scott will be responsible for the delivery and growth of Calian's Health Services portfolio. Scott has over 20 years of experience in healthcare and brings to Calian a background in corporate strategy, business development, pharmacy and law.

Scott has advised and directed companies at all stages of development in Canada and internationally from start-ups to large enterprises in biotechnology, medical technology, health insurance and healthcare delivery. Previously, Scott served as Director of Partnerships with Theranos, Inc., a medical technology company in Silicon Valley; as Sr. Strategic Advisor with the innovation arm of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina; and as SVP, Corporate Development and General Counsel for a publicly-traded biotechnology company. Scott has also practiced as a Corporate Lawyer in the Toronto office of Osler and as a Licensed Pharmacist in Ontario and Nova Scotia. He holds Pharmacy, Law and MBA degrees.

Calian is also pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Eden-Walker will serve as Calian's Medical Director. This position will be primarily responsible for monitoring the quality of our health services and evaluating the overall patient experience. As Medical Director, Dr. Eden-Walker will help Calian establish and implement policies and procedures governing standards of care and best practices and will provide ongoing professional guidance and oversight to ensure patient safety and the consistent delivery of the highest quality of care. Dr. Eden-Walker has served for over 30 years as the medical director of Med-Team Clinic, a company that was acquired by Calian in December 2013. His extensive experience spans primary care, urgent care and specialists servicing. He began his career in medicine with the Canadian military.


Calian is also pleased to announce that Dr. Hans Jung has agreed to serve as a Medical Advisor to Calian. Commodore Jung (Ret`d) held many leadership roles in the Canadian Forces, including serving as Surgeon General and Commander of the Canadian Forces Health Services Group. As Surgeon General, he was responsible for the comprehensive health of military personnel as well as the education, training and regulation of military healthcare professionals. Cmdre. Jung has also been involved in civilian healthcare through initiatives such as the accreditation of the Physician Assistant profession in Canada and its introduction in Ontario. He remains active in the healthcare community through his medical practice focused on veterans and RCMP officers and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veterans Healthcare Research and The Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre.
