Calian is Recognized as National Leader in Quality and Healthy Workplace Business Practices

Kanata, Ontario, September 19, 2006  - Calian Technologies Ltd. (TSX: CTY) is pleased to announce that its Business and Technology Services (BTS) Division has been selected by the National Quality Institute (NQI) as a winner of the prestigious Canada Award of Excellence -Gold Trophy for Quality and the Canada Award of Excellence -Silver Level for Healthy Workplace!

 

Calian's commitment to excellence and service quality has been recognized by both the Canada Awards for Excellence and the NQI. In May 2006, Calian became the first private sector company to attain the highest level of the NQI's Progressive Excellence Program (NQI PEP�); Level 4 in Business Excellence (Quality). Calian undertook the NQI Healthy Workplace stream for continuous improvement concurrently with the Business Excellence stream and in May was named the first company of any designation to be recognized at NQI PEP� Level 3 for the implementation of the Healthy Workplace criteria. While working through the NQI PEP� criteria, Calian BTS achieved very impressive results which earned the company consideration for assessment against the Canada Award for Excellence criteria and eligible for the top honours.


This is only the third time a single company has won Canada Awards for Excellence in both categories, and the first time that an organization has been recognized in both categories of the NQI PEP � program at an award-wining level. These accomplishments are testimony to Calian's continuous improvement effort to deliver the company's vision of "Being the most desirable business and technology service provider to work for, buy from and invest in."

 

With five years invested into the Excellence Journey, Calian acknowledges that the journey never ends.
