The scope of this work is to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) as a Demolition Specialist to a nuclear decommissioning and deconstruction project.

The team consists of a Project Manager, Job Supervisor, Heavy Industrial Safety Specialist, Rigging Specialist, Radiation Protection Surveyors and a Demolition Specialist.

The Demolition Specialist is to be familiar with the QA Plan for Decommissioning and key supporting upper tier documents such as the Detail Decommissioning Plan (DDP), Work Plans (WP) and implementing documents such as the Work Instruction Package (WIP).

The Demolition Specialist should have industry experience and contacts so that in the event of additional resources, the Demolition Specialist can provide references.

The Demolition Specialist must be able to work in a team environment with the project staff as well as other various site departments as well as Demolition Contractor representatives and others.

  1. The Staff Augmented Demolition Specialist will report to the Sr. Project Manager, Decommissioning.
  2. Specific deliverables associated with the position include:
    1. Review of means and methods being proposed by the Demolition Contractor and identification of project risks.
    2. Risk Management Plan shall be updated and include a risk mitigation plan based upon the proposed planning and execution by the Demolition contractor.
    3. Provide a training module for better developing the skills set at and provide mentoring to personnel in the field of D4.
    4. Provide relevant OPEX to the project and commeasurable to the phase of work being performed. This also includes relevant OPEX as it related to performing oversight functions.
    5. Identify, define and direct approach for successful resolution of significant technical issues.
    6. Financial Decision Making

      2. The Demolition Specialist will be required to maintain awareness of work in progress and report any related issues to Project Management.
    7. Strategic Decision Making
      1. Provide specific demolition discipline expert knowledge to peers, vendors and customers.
      2. May be required to act as lead technical problem solver within are of specialization.
      3. The Demolition Specialist will be required to maintain a “big picture” of the being planned and executed. All major project decisions will be reported to the Owner Rep Project Management.
    8. Problem Solving
      1. The Demolition Specialist is expected to recognize and work through any problems related to their area of expertise. The Demolition Specialist will be integrated into the team and work with various other project groups to work through and solve problems as they arise.
    9. Leadership of Self & Others
      1. The Demolition Specialist is required to be able to work independently with the associated group, both at the site, and remotely. The Demolition Specialist must be able to think independently and when needed seek guidance from the Project Manager on operational issues.
      2. The Demolition Specialist must be able to facilitate and drive closure operational issues as they arise, and when necessary seek guidance from the Project Manager.
      3. The Demolition Specialist must be able to effectively communicate to entire group, as well as the Demolition Contractor.
    10. Effort and Working Conditions
      1. Physical and Sensory Demands
        1. The Demolition Specialist must be able to navigate major work areas under demolition without special assistance.
        2. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures ranging from +30 degrees to -40 degrees C and provide insight for work underway during winter seasons.
        3. Must be able to navigate snow and cold weather conditions while at the site.
      2. Working Environment
        1. Must be able to pass required security screening requirements.
        2. Must have a valid driver’s licence, and passport.
        3. Must be able to travel internationally, via air and car for extended periods of time due to the various locations of the facilities.

  3. A monthly report will be provided to the Sr. Project Manager.
