Position Overview

Calian is currently seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to join our team immediately. As an Intermediate Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in advancing assigned projects or programs through various stages, ensuring their successful completion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the Project Directors with advice or guidance on the plans or process to advance assigned projects or programs through the project approval gates until it transitions from the PD to a departmental project management office or through project completion for capital equipment projects
  • Plan and implement project or program activities.
  • Liaise or coordinate with internal and external agencies
  • Provide general administration support to complete Project Director duties, including scheduling meetings, drafting agenda and minutes, editing and proofreading of documentation, drafting reports, processing statements, invoices, and other documents, assembling and disseminating correspondence and briefing materials.
  • Develop SOPs to support project and program activities
  • Make all necessary preparations in order to actively participate in any meeting convened by the Project Authority
  • Act as the first point of contact between contracted support and client support
  • Prepare briefing notes, project approvals, and other general administration documents for projects or programs
  • Draft project plans and documentation in a format acceptable by the Project Authority.
  • Presentations for project approval briefings and review boards
  • Documentation from reviews of project approval documents to ensure they are clear, concise, accurate, and comprehensive
  • Documentation identifying and advising Project Directors with ways to document requirements for project approval
  • Developing Statement of Operational deficiencies, assessing and addressing project risks and problems, as well as developing options to address project issues
  • Maintain an electronic library of work in progress, delivered items and review comments, and must perform version control on all documentation
  • If required by the Project Authority, the Contractor must prepare minutes of all discussions and/or records of decisions of meetings and must provide them to the Project Authority for review and approval
  • Draft project documents and briefings of major and minor projects and programs. This includes the documents and briefings as follows and any related documents

Qualifications

  • University, College or CEGEP degree or diploma
  • Over two (2) years of practical hands-on experience working on project approval activities, in support of Federal Departmental capital equipment projects
  • Experience working on the identification/initiation phase or a Business Case Analysis for a Federal Departmental major capital equipment project
  • Experience working on the options analysis phase for a Federal Departmental major capital equipment project
  • Reside within Canada and already hold or have the ability to obtain a Government of Canada Secret Clearance

Additional Requirements

  • A valid PMP from the Project Management Institute
  • Previous working experience with DND and/or RCAF
  • Bilingual (French/English)
