About the role:
Calian Health is seeking an Addictions Counsellor with interest in providing services to Canadian Armed Forces members in their exclusive outpatient clinic located on Canadian Forces Base in North Edmonton.

Your Key Duties:
Assessing substance-use disorders, including differential assessment of concurrent disorder
Assessing process addictions, such as pathological gambling, sexual behaviour, and gaming
Participating in the development of a treatment plan with the client and the inter-disciplinary health care team to address the clients’ addiction
Providing therapeutic interventions such as Secondary Substance-Abuse Intervention Programs consistent with the established addiction assessment for the client in an individual or group setting
Evaluating the effectiveness of the counselling program, interventions, and the client’s progressing in resolving identified problems and movement toward personalized objectives
Facilitating educational activities and group interventions such as pre-deployment briefings, psychosocial services overview presentations, and group psycho-education sessions
Delivery of psycho-educational sessions such as addiction-free living
Creating and maintaining confidential client reports on treatment services
To be eligible for this position you must meet the following three requirements:
a. Must have a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Social Work from a recognized university
b. Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university
Must have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience with an adult population performing a range of related clinical services in the area of addictions assessment, treatment planning, individual therapy, and group therapy.
Must hold a current membership certificate with the appropriate professional college in the province of Alberta
Certification as an International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor from the Canadian Addictions Counsellors Certification Association considered an asset
Current certification or willingness to obtain CPR Level C with AED
Type of Assignment:
Choose from either a 0.8 FTE or 1.0 FTE.
The clinic is open from 7:30 am to 4pm. There is no evening or weekend work required.
