Calian est un partenaire de l’Agence des services frontaliers du Canada (ASFC) afin de fournir des services médicaux et psychiatriques aux détenus de l’ASFC au centre de surveillance de l’immigration de Laval.
Au sein d’une équipe interdisciplinaire d’infirmières autorisées, de médecins et de psychiatres, le psychologue est responsable de l’évaluation psychologique (parfois urgente) des détenus au centre.
Dans le cadre de ce rôle, vous serez responsable du diagnostic et du traitement des maladies mentales, des troubles émotionnels et des problèmes comportementaux, tout en mettant l’accent sur la sécurité et le bien-être du détenu. Vous traiterez les détenus touchés par diverses préoccupations psychiatriques, y compris les dépendances, le stress et les traumatismes. Vous fournirez des références vers des services médicaux hors site au besoin et collaborerez avec l’ASFC afin de vous assurer que les détenus peuvent accéder à des programmes efficaces afin d’obtenir les meilleurs soins de santé mentale possibles.
À l’heure actuelle, nous sommes à la recherche d’un psychologue qui se joindrait à notre équipe sur une base occasionnelle afin de fournir des services au besoin.
Les qualifications :
Inscription à l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec
Minimum de trois ans d’expérience au cours des cinq dernières années
Expérience de traitement des troubles anxieux, des troubles de l’humeur, des traumatismes et des troubles de stress post-traumatique
Le bilinguisme est requis pour ce poste.

About the role:
Calian partners with Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) to provide medical and psychiatric health services to detainees of CBSA at their Immigration Holding Centre in Laval.
As part of an interdisciplinary team of Registered Nurses, Physicians and Psychiatrists, the Psychologist is responsible for providing psychological assessments of detainees within the facility, sometimes on an urgent basis.
In this role you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating mental illness, emotional disorders and behavioural problems with a focus on the safety and well being of the detainee. You will provide treatment to detainees that may have a variety of psychiatric concerns including addictions, stress, and trauma. You will provide referrals to off-site medical services when required and will work with CBSA to ensure detainees have access to effective programs to achieve the best possible mental health care for your clients.
Licensed with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec
Minimum of three years experience within the last five years
Experience treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder
Bilingualism is required for this position

Calian is currently looking for a Clinical Psychologist to provide consulting assistance to one of our client located in Laval, Québec. The ideal candidate will be open to work with a captive population, have a primary focus of treatment for PTSD, Anxiety Disorders and Trauma for a population of all ages and genders.
Your Key Duties Include:
Providing and documenting psychological assessments/evaluations for detainees who require mental health services, sometimes urgently.
Diagnosing and treating mental illness, emotional disorders, and behavioral problems.
Providing advice and guidance to the medical personnel or other personnel with respect to any special accommodations required to address specific mental health issues.
Providing all personnel with advice and support to assist in the identification of detainee mental health issues. This may include advice about managing difficult situations and providing general information about mental health conditions that may assist personnel to identify detainees that would benefit from care.
Providing treatment to help individuals control and change their behaviour and thinking patterns and to treat and manage addictions, stress, anger etc. to facilitate release of detainees to alternatives to detentions programming (ATD).
Providing referrals and make arrangements for detainees to receive off-site mental health care if required.
Providing advice to the client on the most effective programs, services and policies to achieve the best possible mental health care for detainees.
Working collaboratively with all other members of the medical personnel.
Adhering to all legislation, regulations, policies and procedures to protect confidential medical information.
Maintaining an electronic referral log, which includes at minimum, the date, name of the detainee, unique client identifier (UCI), reason for the referral to another physician, and the institution/professional to which the detainee was referred.
Providing advice and professional instructions to other medical services personnel.
Using information and communications technology (e.g. telemedicine) to facilitate healthcare provision to detainees within and outside of the IHC medical office
Degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university
Registered as a Psychologist and a valid full permit to practice psychology as a registered psychologist in the Province of Quebec issued by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience within the past five (5) years, working in a Primary Health Care Facility, providing the following tasks:
Performing psychological evaluations;
Diagnosing health concerns related to mental illness;
Developing treatment plans; and
Maintaining and updating medical files.
- Experience providing treatment to patients living with the following mental health issues:
Anxiety Disorders, such as, but not limited to, generalized anxiety, panic or phobias;
Mood Disorders, such as, but not limited to, depression or bipolar disorder;
Trauma, such as, but not limited to, physical or sexual assault or emotional abuse; and
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Note that Bilingualism is a must. Level of French must be advanced or fluent, level of English must be advanced.
