About the role:
Calian is seeking a casual Psychiatrist to work at the brand new Surrey Immigration Holding Centre. Detainees of the centre receive a wide range of medical care from the interdisciplinary team on site.
As part of the interdisciplinary team, the Psychiatrist provides assessments and treatment services, making recommendations related to special accommodation concerns related to mental health issues. While monitoring for risk factors, the Psychiatrist refers patients to internal and external healthcare providers. You will also provide mental health education and teaching to your patients, your colleagues and to CBSA staff.
This role requires that a Psychiatrist be available for casual work. On average, the successful applicant would be required for 2-4 calls per month for assessment services.
• Licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
• Fellowship in Psychiatry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
• Minimum of three years of experience
• Experienced treating patients suffering from trauma and PTSD or a related concern
Type of assignment:
Casual Contract, 2-4 calls per month for assessment services.
