Kanata, Ontario, October 21, 2004: Calian Technology Ltd. (TSX: CTY) is proud to announce that its Business and Technology Services Division has been awarded Silver-Level recognition under the prestigious Canada Awards for Excellence (CAE) program. Conferred annually by the National Quality Institute (NQI) after an intensive and thorough assessment process, the CAE is awarded to organizations "that have displayed outstanding performances in the areas of Quality and Healthy Workplace."
The CAE honour follows the announcement by NQI that Calian's Business and Technology Services Division has received the Progressive Excellence Program (PEP) Level 3 certification for Business Excellence, and the PEP Level 1 & 2 certification for Healthy Workplace. These three awards recognize the remarkable progress that the division has made in the areas of Business Excellence and Healthy Workplace, and reflect the Company's commitment to continuous improvement.
"These organizations have assessed their policies and practices against a rigorous set of criteria for achieving business excellence," said Cameron Hyde, Chairman of NQI and Senior Vice President and General Manager, North America Agent Operations, Xerox Corporation. "We congratulate them for demonstrating positive early results in key areas of performance."
"This honour is a testament to our quality-first philosophy, and the evolution that Calian has undergone in recent years," said Tom Coates, VP and GM of Calian's Business and Technology Services Division. "On behalf of Calian, I would like to thank all of our customers, suppliers, partners and stakeholders for their continued support. But most of all, I would like to thank our employees for their effort and dedication in this huge transformation. They are truly the driving force, and the CAE is a credit to their hard work."
The CAE awards were presented at the 2004 Performance Excellence Summit during a CAE Awards 20th Anniversary Gala dinner celebrating the winning organizations and their employees. The event was held on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto.
