CALIAN AWARDED TWO CONTRACT RENEWALS FOR OVER $12 MILLION
Kanata, Ontario May 3, 2004 – Calian Technology Ltd. (TSX: CTY) is pleased to announce that its Business and Technology Services Division was recently awarded two contract renewals with the Canadian and Australian governments. These contracts will be delivered from Calian's US office in Arlington, VA.
Calian was awarded a contract from Public Works and Government Services Canada on behalf of the Canadian Forces to provide CF-18 Liaison and Engineering Services support to the Department of National Defence. Our US division has been providing these services to the Canadian Forces on the CF-18 program since 1989. The contract is for a three-year period, with two additional one-year options. The total value of the contract over the five-year period is $7 million.
Our US division was also awarded a contract to provide support to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Technical Liaison Office (TLO) - NAVAIR. Calian has been supporting the RAAF TLO NAVAIR since 1989 and the contract represents the fifth multi-year renewal between the RAAF and Calian. The contract is for a three-year period, with two additional one-year options. The total contract value for the five-year period is in excess of $5 million.
Under the contracts, Calian's technical staff will deliver ongoing systems engineering, logistics, configuration management, financial and administrative support to both customers. This support is uniquely tailored to meet specific Canadian Forces and RAAF requirements and includes expertise in the areas of avionics, software, airframe, engines and ancillary aircraft equipment as well as ATE and other miscellaneous ground support equipment. In addition to these technical services that support daily operations and various CF-18 and Hornet upgrade projects, Calian provides professional financial management services targeted to the uniqueness of the US Foreign Military Sales system.
