In March 2003, the Canadian Federal Government exercised a contract extension, valued at $4.7 million, for operations and maintenance services for the Canadian Space Agency's Satellite Operations Directorate. During the quarter ended March 31, 2003, contracts totalling $4.6 million were signed with a US defence contractor for the manufacture of various subassemblies of a transportable radar system used in surveillance and security applications. The contracts include a combination of upgrades, repeat orders and new requirements.
In late February 2003, Calian announced a $33 million contract with the European Space Agency for a 35-metre deep space antenna system to be installed in Spain. This contract followed acceptance of a similar system SED provided to ESA in Australia.
