CALIAN AWARDED TWO CONTRACTS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE
Kanata, Ontario, January 6, 2003: Calian Technology Ltd. (TSX: CTY) has recently received final confirmation from the Canadian Federal Government that it has been awarded two contracts through Public Works and Government Services Canada to provide support to the Department of National Defence.
Signal Operator Training - The first contract is to provide a team of instructional staff for all apprentice and journeyman Signal Operators training to the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics (CFSCE) at Canadian Forces Base Kingston. The contract has a potential value of $7.7 million over an initial 1-year term with 4 option years. Work commenced on this contract during the first fiscal quarter of 2003.
CANCAP - Canadian Contractor Augmentation Program - The second contract is to provide professional services to the Canadian Forces Joint Support Group. Calian staff will assist with the design, preparation and implementation of the processes, procedures and instructions related to the implementation and operation of private sector contracts for the augmentation of CF resources on deployed operations. This contract is valued at $3 million over an initial 3-year term with 2 option years. Work commenced on this contract during the first fiscal quarter of 2003.
