CALIAN AWARDED TWO CONTRACTS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE AND NATURAL RESOURCES CANADA
Kanata, Ontario, July 9, 2002: Calian Technology Ltd (TSE.CTY) was awarded two contracts with the Canadian Federal Government through Public Works and Government Services Canada.
Maritime Helicopter Program - The first contract is with the Department of National Defence (DND) for Program Management and Engineering Support Services. The contract was awarded on June 29, 2002 with a value of $12 million over a 3-year term with 2 option years. Calian's Outsourcing Division, teamed with AMTEK Engineering Services Ltd. will provide expertise in the areas of Project Management, Integrated Logistics Support, IM/IT, Engineering and Technical Support to DND in support of the Maritime Helicopter Program. Work will commence on this contract early in July 2002.
Prince Albert Satellite Station - The second contract is with Natural Resources Canada to provide Operations and Maintenance Support Services at the Prince Albert Satellite Station, which receives earth resource data from polar orbiting satellites. This contract, awarded on June 25th, 2002 is a follow on contract for services Calian has been providing to Natural Resources Canada since July 1997, and is valued at $2.3 million over a 2-year term with one option year. Under this contract Calian provides Engineering Technicians, Systems Analysts and a team of Satellite Station Operators.
The awarding of these two contracts to Calian combined with increased business from on-going contracts resulted in an order backlog in excess of $125 million as of June 30, 2002.
