CALIAN AWARDED CONTRACT BY DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE FOR WEB BASED APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT TO DND SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION STAFF
Kanata, Ontario, January 16, 2001 - Calian (T.CTY) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide Web Based (Intranet) Application Development to DND supply and distribution staff in order to provide adequate National Information Systems programming support. If both option years of the contract are exercised, the total value of the contract will be close to $2 Million. The contract will employ five personnel in the National Capital Region.
Within DND, the Director Material Management and Distribution (DMMD) has systems management responsibility for several enterprise applications including but not limited to, Data Warehouse, Ammunition Information Management System (AIMS), Hazardous Material and a Problem Reporting System (PRS). These information systems support several supply and distribution functions for the Canadian Forces. Calian personnel will be part of a team that provides programming, analysis and documentation support. The information systems provide tracking and tracing, automatic generation of documents and the ability to deploy to operational missions. These systems support over 500 users located at Bases, Supply Depots, Squadrons as well as other locations that have a requirement to view or modify supply and distribution related information.
