CALIAN AWARDED CONTRACT BY DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE FOR PERFORMANCE ORIENTED ELECTRONICS TRAINING

Kanata, Ontario November 23rd, 2000 - Calian (TSE: CTY) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the Department of National Defence to provide Training Staff to assist with Electronic, IS and Cryptographic training at the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics (CFSCE) located at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Kingston. If all three option years of the contract are exercised, the total value of the contract will be approximately $5.5 Million. The contract could employ up to 26 personnel in Kingston.

CFSCE provides the electronics training for the Communications and Electronics Branch. The Performance Oriented Electronics Training (POET) Course serves to provide a prerequisite to the advanced specialized (apprentice) training for the Land Communications and Information Systems (LCIS), Avionics Systems (AVS), Aerospace Telecommunications and Information Systems (ATIS), and Fire Control Systems (FCS) courses provided in Kingston, Trenton and Borden. The Calian instructors also assist in the conduct of training which serves as the basis for the Data Communications Systems Maintenance Course (DCSM), the Small Systems Specialist Support (SSSS) Course, the Network Operating Systems (NOS) Course, the Canadian Network Encryption System (CNES) and Tempest High Speed Message Encryption (THSME) Cryptographic courses which are also conducted at CFSCE.
