CALIAN VICE PRESIDENT TO CHAIR CORPORATE PORTALS CONFERENCE

Kanata, Ontario - November 21, 2000 - Calian Ltd. (TSE: CTY) is pleased to announce that Darren O'Shaughnessy, Vice President will Chair a Canadian Institute Conference on Corporate Portals this December in Toronto, Canada. The conference, a showcase for the latest developments in the merging business-to-employee portal market will take place in Toronto at the Four Seasons Hotel, December 4th and 5th, 2000.

"I am honoured and excited to be given the opportunity to chair an event that will help large corporations serve their employees better," stated O'Shaughnessy. O'Shaughnessy, a veteran high-tech manager, will open the conference with a keynote address entitled "Identifying the Business Problems and Opportunities You Can Address With a Corporate Portal. Calian is a leader in the field of business-to-employee portals and I'm looking forward to sharing the knowledge I have in this new market." says O'Shaughnessy.

In all, eighteen speakers will address the conference on topics ranging from boosting productivity to eliminating duplication of effort and loss of information through corporate portals. O'Shaughnessy is encouraging web professionals, chief technology officers and IT professionals to attend. "Any business looking to cutting cost, boost productivity and streamline business practices should attend," says O'Shaughnessy.
