Industry Minister Calls New Partnership "Important for Canada"
Ottawa, Ontario Monday, March 27, 2000
- Calian Ltd. (TSE: CTY) and Informix® Corporation (NASDAQ: IFMX), the technology leader in the software infrastructure for the i.Economy, signed a strategic partnership that will create the first-ever Informix Centre of Excellence in Canada.
The centre will serve as a development site for Calian implementation projects across North America and will leverage Informix technology solutions. The centre will employ as many as 50 people by the end of the year and will be based at Calian's headquarters in Kanata, Ontario, just outside Canada's national capital.

O'Brien made these remarks about the two companies' relationship at a ceremony in Ottawa today with Informix president and CEO Jean-Yves Dexmier. Canada's Federal Industry Minister John Manley also attended the event.
